We specialise in Air Cushion Recovery
Crouch Recovery were requested to deploy air cushion units and mobile cranes to Coalville Leicestershire to attend a loaded fridge unit and trailer on its side, a strict instruction from the owner/operator of the disabled vehicle was that it must be recovered with the load in situ. However on arrival the operators on scene inspected the disabled vehicle and reported the box was severely split because when the vehicle went over the nearside of the fridge hit an armco and kerb and slid to a holt across a main roundabout. As advised by the driver the load of hanging meat (joints of pork) had jumped off the load rails and all 21.2 tonnes were resting on the nearside of the trailer. When the rear doors were removed our operators on scene again confirmed the worst after removing a considerable amount of pig joints to access and view the side of the fridge they located a gauge from one end of trailer to other. Our control room contacted the operator again and requested a relief fridge immediately .We was informed no fridge was available for 24 hours. Our control then contacted our contacts to supply relief fridge trailers - no trailers available immediately, six hour E.T.A was given so we instructed the trailer hire company to deploy trailer asap. Then our recovery operators had to make the only decision left to them which was to stand the trailer up with the load still in situ as first instructed (albeit with the trailer split and the pork joints resting on the damaged side). Another crane was deployed and the team set to and lifted the trailer bit by bit placing air cushions to cover each side of the damaged side strapping until finally it was positioned back onto its wheels. The unit and trailer was then uplifted and towed off the roundabout, the roundabout was re-opened which released the traffic and Leicestershire police were happy with service provided. Once off the roundabout the operators stood by for the for relief trailer and transferred the load, the disabled vehicle was then recovered to our Mkt Harborough depot.
